A [mosaic](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mosaic/) made from marble, limestone and glass terrerae depicting the Judgement of [Paris](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/paris/) from [Greek mythology](https://www.worldhistory.org/Greek_Mythology/). Paris, the prince of [Troy](https://www.worldhistory.org/troy/), has to decide which of the three goddesses [Hera](https://www.worldhistory.org/Hera/), [Athena](https://www.worldhistory.org/athena/) or [Aphrodite](https://www.worldhistory.org/Aphrodite/) is the prettiest. He chose Aphrodite who promised him that he would marry the most beautiful mortal woman, who was [Helen](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Helen/) of [Sparta](https://www.worldhistory.org/sparta/). Paris received Helen to join him in Troy, which sparked the [Trojan War](https://www.worldhistory.org/Trojan_War/) as the Greeks fought to get her back.

The mosaic above was found in the Atrium House in [Antioch](https://www.worldhistory.org/Antiochia/)-on-the-Orontes in modern-day [Turkey](https://www.worldhistory.org/Asia_Minor/). It is currently on display at the Louvre in Paris, room 25 Denon.
