An 1880 oil on canvas, *Rue Eugène Moussoir at Moret: Winter*, by [Alfred Sisley](https://www.worldhistory.org/Alfred_Sisley/) (1839-1899), the Franco-British impressionist painter. Like many of the impressionsits, Sisley was interested in capturing the effects of light on snow. He painted several canvases like this one in Moret just south of [Paris](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/paris/) where he lived in this period. (Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York)
