As the youngest brother of King [Louis XVI](https://www.worldhistory.org/Louis_XVI_of_France/), Artois was one of the first emigres to flee France after the [Storming of the Bastille](https://www.worldhistory.org/Storming_of_the_Bastille/). Artois would later reign as King Charles X of France (r. 1824-1830).
