An 1883 oil on canvas, *Nude in a Landscape*, by [Pierre-Auguste Renoir](https://www.worldhistory.org/Pierre-Auguste_Renoir/) (1841-1919) the French impressionist painter. A single female nude in nature was a favourite subject of Renoir's. This work has typical features of such canvases: translucent skin, soft lines and colours, and a hazy natural background.
