## Image Caption

The 12th-century Nanstein Castle in Landstuhl, Germany. The castle was once owned by the imperial knight Franz von Sickingen (l. 1481-1523) who was one of the leaders of the [Knights' Revolt](https://www.worldhistory.org/Knights'_Revolt/) (1522-1523). Von Sickingen made significant improvements to the castle's defences.
