## Image Caption

An 1888 oil on canvas, *Van Gogh Painting Sunflowers*, by [Paul Gauguin](https://www.worldhistory.org/Paul_Gauguin/) (1848-1903) the French post-impressionist painter. Gauguin and [Vincent van Gogh](https://www.worldhistory.org/Vincent_van_Gogh/) (1853-1890) shared a house in Arles in 1888. The Dutch painter was not altogether impressed and noted that "This is me gone mad". (Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam)
