Face reconstruction of [King John of England](https://www.worldhistory.org/King_John_of_England/) (also called John Lackland, r. 1199-1216), based on his [tomb](https://www.worldhistory.org/tomb/) effigy in Worcester Cathedral and contemporary chroniclers describing his physical appearance. During his reign, he lost the Duchy of Normandy and most of his French territory to [King Philip](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/King_Philip/) II of France, causing the collapse of the Angevin [Empire](https://www.worldhistory.org/empire/). Famous for signing the [Magna Carta](https://www.worldhistory.org/Magna_Carta/) in 1215.
