## Image Caption

An 1871 oil on canvas, *Dulwich College*, by [Camille Pissarro](https://www.worldhistory.org/Camille_Pissarro/) (1830-1903), the Danish-French impressionist painter. The college was within walking distance of the artist's home in Lower Norwood; his nephew would study at Dulwich later that year. Pissarro here uses much looser and bolder brushstrokes than previously, particularly for the effects of light on the water. (Private Collection)
