## Image Caption

An 1884 oil on canvas painting, *Weaver near an Open Window*, by [Vincent van Gogh](https://www.worldhistory.org/Vincent_van_Gogh/) (1853-90), the Dutch post-impressionist artist. Painted in July in Nuenen, the Netherlands. The artist made a series of studies of weavers, very often, as here, with the light from a window making a stark contrast with the dark interior.
