## Image Caption

The [Temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) of [Hathor](https://www.worldhistory.org/Hathor/) or "Small Temple" was constructed during the reign of [Ramesses II](https://www.worldhistory.org/Ramesses_II/) (c. 1279 - c. 1213 BCE). The Small Temple was dedicated to the goddess Hathor and Queen Nefertari, [Ramesses](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/ramesses/)' favourite wife. On the facade, six colossi represent Ramesses II and his wife, Queen Nefertari, shown as the Goddess Hathor. Alongside each colossus are small figures in relief depicting the children of the royal couple.
