The [Temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) of Maharraqa is a [Roman](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Roman/)-built (1st century CE) unfinished temple dedicated to [Serapis](https://www.worldhistory.org/Serapis/) and [Isis](https://www.worldhistory.org/isis/). It is located in New Wadi es-Sebua, a temple complex area in southern [Egypt](https://www.worldhistory.org/egypt/) situated on the banks of Lake Nasser. It was placed in its present location as part of the large rescue effort led by UNESCO to save the ancient monuments of Lower Nubia from the waters of Lake Nasser. The only part of the monument that was finished was an inner court surrounded on three sides by columns.
