The peristyle court of the [temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) of Wadi es-Sebua, filled with reliefs displaying processions of [Ramesses II](https://www.worldhistory.org/Ramesses_II/)'s sons and daughters on both walls and pillars with figures of [Ramesses](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/ramesses/) himself with both arms crossed and wearing a shendyt. Approached by an avenue of sphinxes, the Wadi es-Sebua temple was built during the reign of Ramesses II (r. 1279-1213 BCE) and dedicated to [Amun](https://www.worldhistory.org/amun/)-Ra, Ra-Harakhty and the deified [pharaoh](https://www.worldhistory.org/pharaoh/). The structure was partly rock-cut and partly freestanding. The inner sanctuary was later converted into a Coptic church.
