New Kalabsha is a promontory located near the western end of the High Dam a few kilometres south of Aswan. It houses several temples and other structures that have been relocated here from the ancient city of Talmis (later known as Kalabsha) and other sites in Lower Nubia, to avoid the rising waters of Lake Nasser caused by the construction of the Aswan High Dam in the 1960s.
