A c. 1888-90 portrait in oils, *Madame Cézanne in a Yellow Armchair* by [Paul Cézanne](https://www.worldhistory.org/Paul_Cezanne/) (1839-1906), the French post-impressionist artist. Cézanne's wife, Marie-Hortense Fiquet (1850-1922), was a frequent sitter for the artist. This version uses the three primary colours – red, yellow, and blue – to create a striking composition.
