An 1890-94 still-life in oils, *The Basket of Apples* by [Paul Cézanne](https://www.worldhistory.org/Paul_Cezanne/) (1839-1906), the French post-impressionist artist. Cézanne was a master of looking at ordinary objects from multiple viewpoints, a technique that would be much copied in art thereafter. (Art Institute of Chicago)
