A painting by John Barker showing a scene from the [Battle of Marston Moor](https://www.worldhistory.org/article/1906/battle-of-marston-moor/) on 2 July 1644 during the [English Civil Wars](https://www.worldhistory.org/English_Civil_Wars/) (1642-51). Fought near York between Royalist and Parliamentarian armies (including a Scottish army), victory went to the latter.
