## Image Caption

The Altarpiece of the Holy Blood in the church of Saint [Jacob](https://www.worldhistory.org/Jacob/), Rothenburg, Germany. Made of glazed limewood by Tilman Riemenschneider (c. 1460-1531), it was completed by 1505. It shows the Last Supper in the central panel while the left panel shows the Entry into [Jerusalem](https://www.worldhistory.org/jerusalem/) and the right panel Judas. It was designed to showcase the chapel which contained a holy relic of [Jesus Christ](https://www.worldhistory.org/Jesus_Christ/)’s blood.
