Tepe Sialk is an archeological site (a tepe, "hill, tell") near Kashan in central Iran consisting of two hills with six main phases of occupation. The oldest settlements in Sialk date to around 6000–5500 BCE while the [ziggurat](https://www.worldhistory.org/ziggurat/) was constructed during the fourth period of occupation that lasted from about 3000-2500 BCE. It is the oldest of four ziggurats in Iran constructed by the [Elamite](https://www.worldhistory.org/elam/) [civilization](https://www.worldhistory.org/civilization/).
