A late-19th century cigarette card showing the French [buccaneer](https://www.worldhistory.org/Buccaneer/) and pirate [François L'Olonais](https://www.worldhistory.org/Francois_L'Olonais/) (1630-1668). L'Olonias was the cruellest of all [buccaneers](https://www.worldhistory.org/Buccaneer/), torturing and executing almost all of his captives during a brutal career attacking the [Spanish Main](https://www.worldhistory.org/Spanish_Main/).
