Enoch is taken up to heaven, chalk painting by Albertus Pictor (1440-1507) in Trave 2 of Härkeberga Church, Enköping, Sweden.

The painting portrays the biblical character Enoch being taken to heaven by God. He was the son of Jared, the father of Methuselah, and an ancestor of Noah. Enoch was a key figure in the Old Testament who was said to live 365 years before he was taken by God to heaven. There he was initiated into the mysteries and secrets of angels and archangels. Some sources associate him with Metatron, and for this reason, Enoch was a key figure in the Rabbinic Kabbalah of Jewish mysticism as he was said to have an access to divine knowledge.
