The Aalen [Roman Fort](https://www.worldhistory.org/Roman_Fort/) was a [Roman military](https://www.worldhistory.org/Roman_Army/) camp on the Upper Germanic-Rhaetian Limes, a World Heritage Site in Germany. It was built in the 2nd century CE and was the largest cavalry garrison north of the Alps. The garrison was home to 1,000 soldiers of the Ala II Flavia Miliaria, the largest and most important troop on the whole *limes*.
