The [Aztec](https://www.worldhistory.org/Aztec_Civilization/) capital of Tenochtitlan, located on an island on Lake [Texcoco](https://www.worldhistory.org/Texcoco/) in present-day Mexico. The capital was founded in 1345 CE and destroyed in 1521 CE.
