This alabaster statue of [Pharaoh](https://www.worldhistory.org/pharaoh/) Pepi II (2284 - c. 2216 BCE) and his mother, is one of the more famous representations of the two because the statue technically has two “front” sides. By placing Pepi II and his mother in opposite directions, it creates a multi-view statue. This is a very different statue style from other [Old Kingdom](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Old_Kingdom/) art, and diverges from typical [Egyptian](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Egyptian/) styles in general. 6th Dynasty, Old Kingdom.
