## Image Caption

The Steine is a replica of a [Viking](https://www.worldhistory.org/Vikings/) longstone standing in Dublin. The use of the original standing stone is not clear, but it is believed to have been raised by the Viking settlers sometime during the 10th or 11th centuries and would have been an important landmark in the [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/) for centuries. It stood until the first half of the 18th century, while the memorial stone that can be visited was erected in 1986.
