# Imperial Colonnade Egg by Fabergé

The 1910 Imperial Colonnade Egg by Peter Carl Fabergé (1846-1920). The egg was given by [Tsar Nicholas II](https://www.worldhistory.org/Tsar_Nicholas_II/) (r. 1894-1917) to his wife Alexandra Feodorovna. The egg is made from [gold](https://www.worldhistory.org/gold/) with pink enamel while the [temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) support consists of six bowenite columns. The egg has a rotating clock device with diamond numerals and is topped by a gilded cupid. Four [silver](https://www.worldhistory.org/Silver/)-gilded female cherubs sit on the circular base. Within the columns are two platinum doves. The two doves represent the [tsar](https://www.worldhistory.org/Tsar/) and his wife while their four daughters are represented by the cherubs and their only son by the cupid. The whole object measures 28 cm (11 in) in height.
