The 1909 Standart Egg by Peter Carl Fabergé (1846-1920). The egg was given by [Tsar Nicholas II](https://www.worldhistory.org/Tsar_Nicholas_II/) (r. 1894-1917) to his wife Alexandra Feodorovna. The egg is made of rock crystal with a [gold](https://www.worldhistory.org/gold/) mount. The foot of the egg is formed from two dolphins in lapis lazuli and the handles, rendered in the same material, represent double-headed eagles. A pearl hangs from each handle. Inside the egg, resting on a block of aquamarine, is a gold miniature model of the imperial yacht Standart. It measures 13.7 cm (5.4 in) in height.
