Main hall of the National Museum of [Roman Art](https://www.worldhistory.org/Roman_Art/) in Mérida (Spanish: Museo Nacional de Arte Romano), Spain. Inaugurated in 1986, the magnificent building, reflecting certain aspects of [Roman architecture](https://www.worldhistory.org/Roman_Architecture/), occupies some 5000 m² ((53819 ft²). Currently, the museum houses more than 36,000 pieces, including [Roman mosaics](https://www.worldhistory.org/article/498/roman-mosaics/), sculptures, epigraphs and inscriptions, showing all aspects of everyday life in a [Roman](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Roman/) colony.
