The castle was captured by Hideyoshi Toyotomi (1537–1598 CE), and then passed to his younger brother after his [death](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Death/). The last ruler of the castle was Akamatsu Hirohide who committed suicide in 1600 CE, after which the castle fell into disrepair.
