# Scythian Golden Man

## Image Caption

This costume is a replica of the clothing and armour found in the [burial](https://www.worldhistory.org/burial/) mound of the so-called "Golden Man", in Issyk, present day Kazakhstan. The scourge and sword found among the possessions are also included. The individual is thought to have possibly been a [Scythian](https://www.worldhistory.org/Scythians/) prince or warrior, although their sex is disputed. Associated with the [Saka](https://www.worldhistory.org/Scythians/) peoples. 4th-3rd century BCE.

This replica by Krym Altynbekov was on display at the VAM Design Center, Budapest. The original armour is part of the collection of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Nur-Sultan (Astana).
