"La Joyeuse" (French for "The Joyous") was the name given to the sword of [Charlemagne](https://www.worldhistory.org/Charlemagne/) (l. 742-814 CE) in Medieval legend. The sword was kept in the royal abbey at the Basilica of Saint-Denis, and is first mentioned as a coronation sword at the crowning of Philip III of France (r. 1270-1285 CE). 1 m x 22 cm (41 x 8.6 in).
