## Image Caption

A panel from the [Gundestrup Cauldron](https://www.worldhistory.org/Gundestrup_Cauldron/) showing a seated [god](https://www.worldhistory.org/God/) with stag’s antlers, often identified as [Cernunnos](https://www.worldhistory.org/Cernunnos/), an ancient [Celtic](https://www.worldhistory.org/celt/) god who represented nature, flora and fauna, and fertility. There is also a stag and deer on the left side and on the right five strange animals and a small figure riding what may be a dolphin.

The Gundestrup Cauldron was found in Denmark in 1891 CE but was produced in the Balkans. Gilded [silver](https://www.worldhistory.org/Silver/), likely 1st century BCE. The designs show gods and warriors inspired by the Celtic [culture](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/culture/). (National Museum of Denmark, Copenhagen)
