## Image Caption

The Coronation Chair of [Edward I of England](https://www.worldhistory.org/Edward_I_of_England/) (r. 1272-1307 CE). The throne was made to accommodate under the seat the [Stone of Scone](https://www.worldhistory.org/Stone_of_Scone/), the traditional coronation stone of Scottish monarchs which Edward had taken from [Scotland](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Scotland/) in 1296 CE. The stone was returned to Scotland in 1996 CE.
