## Image Caption

A photorealistic representation of what the [Roman emperor](https://www.worldhistory.org/Roman_Emperor/) [Gordian I](https://www.worldhistory.org/Gordian_Emperors/) (r. 238 CE) may have looked like. Based on contemporary and near contemporary descriptions, as well as archaeological evidence. Pictured alongside the reconstruction are the portraits used as references, including the Capitoline bust of [Gordian](https://www.worldhistory.org/Gordian_Emperors/) I and several coins. Made using Photoshop and Artbreeder, a neural net tool.
