## Image Caption

A photorealistic representation of what the [Roman emperor](https://www.worldhistory.org/Roman_Emperor/) [Nero](https://www.worldhistory.org/Nero/) (r. 54-68 CE) may have looked like. Pictured alongside the reconstruction are the artworks and statuary used as references. From left to right and top to bottom these are the Capitoline Nero; the Glyptotek bust; the Uffizi Gallery's bust; and the painting by Peter [Paul](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Paul/) Rubens (1577–1640 CE). Based on contemporary and near contemporary descriptions, as well as archaeological and artistic evidence. Made using Photoshop and Artbreeder, a neural net tool.
