A 20th-century CE painting depicting the Ertugrul Cavalry Regiment (named after the father of Osman (r. 1299-1326 CE), the founder of the [Ottoman Empire](https://www.worldhistory.org/Ottoman_Empire/)) of the Ottoman Mansure (Victorious) army that had replaced the obsolete janissaries by 1826 CE. Painted by Fausto Zonaro (1854–1929 CE) and housed in the Dolmabahçe [Palace](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/palace/).
