[Göbekli Tepe](https://www.worldhistory.org/Göbekli_Tepe/) is a c. 12,000-year-old archaeological site in [Anatolia](https://www.worldhistory.org/Asia_Minor/), [Turkey](https://www.worldhistory.org/Asia_Minor/). The site chronology is divided into three levels, Layer I being the youngest and Layer III the oldest and deepest. Layer III is also the most sophisticated level at Göbekli Tepe, where each enclosure is characterised by different thematic components and artistic representations.
