## Image Caption

A room from the Villa of the Farnesina, [Rome](https://www.worldhistory.org/Rome/), early 1st century BCE. Probably used as a bedroom. The [fresco](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Fresco/) surrounds the whole room and uses trompe-l'oeil effects to create perspective. The central panel shows [Dionysos](https://www.worldhistory.org/Dionysos/) nursed by nymphs, the left panel shows a seated [Aphrodite](https://www.worldhistory.org/Aphrodite/) with [Eros](https://www.worldhistory.org/Eros/). (Palazzo Massimo, Rome).
