## Image Caption

A church altar from Jacobstow Church, Cornwall, [England](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/england/). During the [English Reformation](https://www.worldhistory.org/English_Reformation/) and reign of [Edward VI of England](https://www.worldhistory.org/Edward_VI_of_England/) (r. 1547-53 CE), the altar, like many others, was removed to be replaced by a communion table.
