## Image Caption

A plaster cast of a domestic pig found in Villa Regina at Boscoreale ([Italy](https://www.worldhistory.org/italy/)). The pig died in the volcanic eruption of Vesuvius in 79 CE. As its body decomposed it left a void in the volcanic material around it.
