The coin may reference his victory at the [Battle](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/battle/) of Thapsus in 49 BCE, where he defeated [Roman](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Roman/) and Numidian forces who fielded [war](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/War/) elephants.
