## Image Caption

The Trellis House in [Herculaneum](https://www.worldhistory.org/Herculaneum/) was built almost entirely of opus craticium, a low-cost building technique with square wooden frames filled with crushed rocks called opus incertum. The upper floor of this house was intended for use by several families. It had a balcony supported by brick columns.
