A portrait of [Richard II of England](https://www.worldhistory.org/Richard_II_of_England/) (r. 1377-1399 CE). The painting was the first of an English king to be painted in his lifetime and was hung in Westminster Abbey. Some scholars have attributed the painting to Andre Beauneveu of Valenciennes (1335-1400 CE) but this is disputed.
