## Image Caption

The iconic cinematic performance of Elizabeth Taylor in the motion picture *[Cleopatra](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/cleopatra/)* (1963) left a lasting impression of the [Egyptian](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Egyptian/) queen’s supposed beauty. Despite its emphatic opulence, the movie still implies that Cleopatra could only maintain her relationships with [Caesar](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/caesar/) and [Antony](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mark_Antony/) due to her physical appearance. Still of Elizabeth Taylor in *Cleopatra*, dir. by Joseph L. Mankiewicz (20th Century Fox, 1963): “My breasts are full of love and life. My hips are rounded and well apart.”
