# Twisted Torc of the Stirling Hoard

## Image Caption

This twisted torc is one of four Stirling Hoard torcs discovered in Stirlingshire, [Scotland](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Scotland/) in 2009. The torcs had been buried shallowly in a Roundhouse near current day Blair Drummond. It is unclear whether they were buried as an offering or the hidden spoils of [war](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/War/), 
Dated to between 300 – 100 BCE, this style of torc is representative of the Scottish and Irish styles of the Late [Bronze Age](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Bronze_Age/). It is designed from a single ribbon of [gold](https://www.worldhistory.org/gold/) twisted to create this unique effect with disc terminals.
