The Cuerdale Hoard is one of the largest found Viking hordes containing over 8,000 pieces of Viking jewelry, bullion, and coins. It was discovered 15 May 1840 CE in the Ribble Valley, a once bustling route for Vikings travelling between the Irish Sea and Viking York. The treasures, estimated to have been buried between 905-910 CE, date from after the Viking expulsion from Dublin in 902 CE.
The majority of the hoard is housed in the British Museum in London, although the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and the Château-musée de Boulogne-sur-Mer in France also hold some items from the hoard. The objects depicted are from the British Museum.
