## Image Caption

"Richard Coeur de Lion", a [bronze](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/bronze/) statue of [Richard I of England](https://www.worldhistory.org/Richard_I_of_England/) (commonly known as Richard the Lionheart or Richard Coeur de Lion; r. 1189 - 1199 CE). A clay model of the statue was first presented at the [Great Exhibition](https://www.worldhistory.org/Great_Exhibition/) in London, 1851 CE. A bronze cast of the statue was completed in 1856 CE and was installed in Old [Palace](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/palace/) Yard, in front of the Palace of Westminster in London. In 1867 CE, bronze bas-reliefs were added to the sides of the statue's granite pedestal.
