Statue of Meleager — This much-amended statue of the mythical hunter Meleager goes back to a Greek bronze sculpture from around 340-330 BCE. It was the only sculptural decoration in a hall with galleries that overlooked the sea. Its privileged placement and the fact that it was restored in Antiquity evidence the high regard it received. Marble. From the Villa of Ulpian near Civitavecchia, Italy; acquired in 1841 CE. Roman copy, 1st century CE. It is on display at the Altes Museum in Berlin, Germany.
