During the renovation work of the [temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) of [Ishtar](https://www.worldhistory.org/ishtar/), the Assyrian king [Tukulti-Ninurta I](https://www.worldhistory.org/Tukulti-Ninurta_I/) (r. 1243–1207 BCE) found a stone tablet among the foundations with an inscription by his grandfather Adad-nirari I (1295–1264 BCE). On the inscription, the latter proudly relates how he restored the temple. The account ends with a curse: "May the gods punish anyone who alters the wording". From the main temple of Ishtar at [Assur](https://www.worldhistory.org/assur/), Iraq. Middle Assyrian period, c. 1295-1263 BCE. (The Neues Museum, Berlin, Germany).
