The Shari-den building of the [Buddhist](https://www.worldhistory.org/buddhism/) monastery site Engakuji, [Kamakura](https://www.worldhistory.org/Kamakura/), [Japan](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Japan/). Established c. 1283 CE, the building is the only survivor from the [Kamakura period](https://www.worldhistory.org/Kamakura_Period/) (1185-1333 CE) and is thought to house a tooth of the [Buddha](https://www.worldhistory.org/Siddhartha_Gautama/) brought from [China](https://www.worldhistory.org/china/).
