[Celtic](https://www.worldhistory.org/celt/) [coin](https://www.worldhistory.org/coinage/) from modern-day Romania, 3rd- 2nd century BCE.

The reverse depicts a horse and helmeted rider while the obverse depicts the head of [Zeus](https://www.worldhistory.org/zeus/), it is one of many imitations of [Greek](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/greek/) currency to be minted in Celtic [Europe](https://www.worldhistory.org/europe/) in ancient times. The figures on these coins became increasingly abstracted as they grew more distant from their original inspirations and were influenced by local art.
